yeeehaaaaaa...one more day....

Hellooooooooo........
To all my fans out there, I enjoy and appreciate your comments. So I will use this time to respond to your commenst and let you know a few weekend option. I am still here, just been working my, even smaller, ass off. Physically or mentally taxing, a long week is a long week no matter how you look at it. I thought that people could come over this weekend and we could have another BBQ. If you would all like, this is a formal invite. A modern invite. Who needs to send things in the mail any more when you have these things. Let me know about this weekend, the boys will be here. :) Also, I told James that anyone who wants to use my truck or just drive it, it is here. He knows where all the keys are so feel free to us it for your errands.
Well, this week! A quick (maybe) over view. We are currently installing a water main which is made out of ductile iron pipe. Each pipe is 18 feet long and weighs 1260 pounds. It is installed, of course underground. We were told that they bid the job for this pipe to be put in at 400 feet a day. That is a good day. I was told that "you are going to have to haul ass, and you WILL get 400 feet a day even if you have to stay until 5 or 6". My first thought "Uhhhh okay. " I will do what I can. It will be hard for people to understand how much running around and physical work you actually do when you are putting this pipe in the ground. It is one hell of an entire body workout. Any way, first day we worked our asses off. Due to a late start because of other things we had to get gathered up, we managed to get 435 feet. YESSSSS! We did good. The next day, after 150 feet in the ground, we were told that we weren't moving fast enough and that if we were going to get our 400 feet we had better get moving and start hauling ass. That we weren't going to get it. Well, much to our satisfaction, we made 504 feet. YESSSSSSSS! We did really good! Of course today, day three, we all wanted to get at least another 504 feet. I mean you almost have to. Well, we made it up to 614. Yep, we kick ass!!!!!
When they bid the job for 400 feet a day and we get that plus some, each day, they better be F%$# happy and appreciative of how hard we worked. At about noon, the project manager called our foreman and wanted to know how much footage we had gotten up until that point. Our foreman informed him that we were just shy of 400 feet. His response "well, you're at the quota only work eight hours today." We were told that they bit this for a ten hour day. Go figure. WE HAVE BEEN BUSTIN' OUR ASSES OFF AND THEY WANT TO CUT OUR O.T. Our foreman stuck up for us and told him that, basically that is bullshit. You don't let these guys bust there asses off all day and just because they got their footage send them home. No, I don't think so. He told him that we were working until we were happy with our footage. So I told him I wanted to get 600 feet today, and we did. Ten hours. Not bad!
So, although physically and believe it our not mentally grueling, it has been a damn good week. I am looking forward to Friday night.
I want to write more, of course about my favorite person in the entire world....."THE DECIDER" but I am slowly running our of moisture in my eyes and feeling in my fingertips. So, I hope you enjoyed. Don't worry, there will be plenty more Blog from me. I love doing it.

Seth, John and I are up for coming over this weekend. Let us know which day and what time. I'll make something or buy something to bring over (depending on my energy level!).
Love you. Connie

Seth, I think you should put an application in for a job with UPS. They work hard, but you could be closer and work a lot more independently.

1200+ lbs?!! f that's alot. i hope your thumb is better and that you didn't drop that little itty bit of 600ft pipe on it.

bosses don't bid on you, they bid on their profit, and the harder you work, the more profit they make :) i think some people in the state agencies have figured that out.

but if you were running the business you would totally appreciate and understand the dedication that the workers are giving you and there's nothing wrong with rewarding everyone who makes a business successful!

feel comforted that your ass is smaller and their bank account is larger.

stay a hard worker, it's what makes you unique. caring about what you do is the best part of being human (well there is sex, but that's not usually related to your kind of work) and hang with the people that appreciate that. and while you're there, like what you do.

anyhoo, sounds like you all are up for another great weekend. it'll be me and rosa here starin' out at the sky.
